What electrical service does a swim spa need?

Most swim spas require a dedicated 240V circuit at 50-60 amps, installed by a licensed electrician with a GFCI disconnect within sight of the unit. Dual-zone models sometimes need two circuits.

What kind of base or pad does a swim spa need?

A filled swim spa can weigh 15,000-30,000 lbs, so it needs a reinforced concrete pad — typically 4-6 in thick with rebar or mesh, on compacted base, sized to the full footprint. Decks and pavers require an engineer sign-off.

How is a swim spa delivered and how much access do I need?

Swim spas ship on a flatbed and are usually set with a crane or heavy equipment. Plan for a clear path or overhead crane access, and expect delivery and placement to cost roughly $500-$2,500 beyond the purchase price.

How much space does a swim spa need?

Plan for the cabinet footprint plus about 2-3 ft of service clearance on at least one long side and one end, plus overhead room for the cover lifter. A 15 ft model realistically needs a 20 x 12 ft area.
