What Is a Dual-Zone Swim Spa?

A dual-zone swim spa is divided into two distinct areas: a swim/exercise zone and a separate warm-water spa zone. Each zone has independent temperature controls, so you can swim at 80–85°F while others relax at 100–104°F.

Temperature Control

Single-zone models maintain one water temperature throughout. If you want to use the spa for both swimming and soaking, you'll need to adjust the temperature between uses—or settle for a compromise.

Cost and Complexity

Dual-zone models are generally 30–50% more expensive than comparable single-zone units. They also have more equipment to maintain, including additional heaters, pumps, and control systems.

Space and Swim Area

Because space is split between two zones, the swim area in a dual-zone model is often shorter. Serious swimmers may prefer the uninterrupted length of a single-zone unit.
