    Bubbles in the water

    Asked by KimSeptember 2, 2026

My kids got in the hot tub with my husband briefly the other night and the water is foamy and has a lot of bubbles. I realized I had recently washed their swimsuit in the washing machine and assume the bubbles are a result of that. How do I get rid of it? And also I'm wondering if you're just not supposed to ever wash swimsuits or this will happen? Sounds like a stupid question but I have no idea.

It happens to the best of us! It's a common issue, but can be a bit tricky to take care of. The simplest fix is honestly a drain and refill, but if it's not too bad there are other fixes. The biggest problem is that your filters are likely picking up the contaminant that's making the water bubbly, so whenever you cycle the water back through it will recycle and continue to bubble. So you need to get on a daily cycle of adding sanitizer and cleaning the filters to purge detergent from your water. Scooping the bubbles off the surface of your water can also accelerate the process. There are coagulating agents you can get to add to your water as well that will help the filters retain the contaminants rather than recycling them, but they can make the water cloudy as well. Just stay on top of adding shock and cleaning your filters and it should work its way out.
