Brand Overview
Jacuzzi is the original modern hot tub brand. The J-200, J-300, J-400, and J-LX series cover entry through flagship, all built around the company's PowerPro jet platform.
Bullfrog launched in 1996 with a single big idea: the JetPak Therapy System. Instead of fixed jets, each seat houses a removable JetPak module — buyers pick the therapy type (deep tissue, neck/shoulder, oscillating, etc.) for every seat, and can swap them years later.
Jacuzzi is owned by Jacuzzi Group, built in Chino, California and Tijuana, Mexico, and primarily targets buyers who want the strongest brand recognition and aggressive PowerPro therapy. Bullfrog is independent — Bullfrog Spas Inc., manufactured in Herriman, Utah, and primarily targets buyers who want per-seat therapy customization and fewer plumbing leak points. That ownership and manufacturing context shapes everything that follows — parts availability, dealer density, and how each brand approaches engineering trade-offs.
Price Comparison
Both brands span mid-range to premium. Pricing varies by dealer and configuration — Bullfrog's JetPak choices in particular can shift the final number.

Sticker price is only part of the equation. Budget another $300–$800 for delivery and crane work, $500–$1,200 for a dedicated 50A electrical run, and $150–$300 each for a cover lifter and steps. Jacuzzi dealers more commonly bundle delivery and a starter chemical kit, while Bullfrog dealers more commonly bundle delivery and a free JetPak upgrade or two — ask the dealer to itemize what's included in the quote before comparing the headline price.
Build Quality
Jacuzzi uses an acrylic shell with the ProFinish cabinet and SmartSeal full-foam insulation. Bullfrog uses an acrylic shell with the EnduraFrame structural base, ProGuard synthetic cabinet, and a multi-layer insulation package. Bullfrog's biggest structural advantage is the simplified plumbing — the JetPak architecture eliminates most of the plumbing lines in a conventional spa, reducing potential leak points.
Edge: Bullfrog for plumbing reliability, Tie on overall build quality.
Looking past the marketing: Acrylic shell typically carries a 10-year structural warranty and the ProFinish cabinet resists rot; in years 5–10 the most common service items are circulation-pump seals and topside control overlays. Acrylic shell with a 10-year structural warranty and a fully synthetic ProGuard cabinet; JetPak gaskets are the most common wear item but they're a 10-minute owner-replaceable part.
Jet Systems
Jacuzzi's PowerPro jets are the standard against which others are judged — adjustable, powerful, and well-placed.
Bullfrog's JetPak Therapy System is genuinely unique. Each seat is a separate, swappable cartridge — choose Wellspring (gentle), JetStream (powerful neck/shoulder), Oasis (lumbar focus), and so on. The system can be reconfigured later as preferences change.
Edge: Jacuzzi for individual jet power, Bullfrog for customization and per-seat therapy variety.
Pump configuration matters as much as jet count. Jacuzzi leans into shoulder and lumbar power, while Bullfrog leans into tailored per-seat therapy variety. If two adults plan to soak together, prioritize the brand whose therapy character matches the dominant user — raw jet totals can be misleading when the jet mix isn't what you actually want against your back.
Energy Efficiency
Both use full-foam insulation. Bullfrog's reduced plumbing means less water volume and less heat-loss surface area, which can translate to slightly lower running costs. Jacuzzi's SmartSeal is competitive but not class-leading.
Edge: Bullfrog (modest).
On the cover and the meter: Jacuzzi typically ships with a 4 lb tapered cover and pulls roughly 300–350W standby in mild conditions (climbing meaningfully below freezing), and is best in mild to moderate climates. Bullfrog typically ships with a 4 lb tapered cover and pulls roughly 200–275W standby, and is strong in all climates thanks to reduced water volume. Cover quality alone can swing annual operating cost by $150–$300, so spec the upgraded cover at purchase if your dealer offers one.
Our Verdict
Choose Jacuzzi if: you want the most recognized brand, top-tier jet power, and a large nationwide dealer network.
Choose Bullfrog if: different household members want different therapy styles, you want fewer plumbing leak points, or you want a tub you can re-tune years from now.
